Dana, Lauren and Emma rush down to the East Hills Teen Shelter and find the building swarming
with police. They find Anne sitting in an ambulance and she tells them about the battle with the Netherpunks and
what happened to Ethan and Jalen. Lauren sneaks past the police cordon into the shelter and uses her powers to
get a vision of what happened. Her vision shows Lauren the fight with Keri, including the vampire-witch blasting
Ethan out the window and casting a spell that pulls Jalen into the shadows. Lauren is able to follow Keri in the
vision and sees her take the captive Jennifer to a familiar location, the New Hope Psychiatric Hospital. Across
town, Patrick has made his way to a pay phone and calls Dana, telling her that Cross is dead and learning from her
what has happened at the shelter. He tells Dana he will get to the shelter as soon as he can.Once Lauren has snuck
back out of the building and briefed her, Dana decides to take Jalen's motorcycle to the hospital to check on Ethan
while Lauren and Emma wait for Patrick. At the hospital Dana speaks to an emergency room doctor and is shocked to
hear that Ethan died of his injuries.
Meanwhile, Patrick has made his way back to where Cross had parked his car. Careful to avoid being
seen, Patrick breaks into the BMW and hotwires it and makes his way to the Teen Shelter. Once there he gets more
details on what happened, including where Jennifer has been taken, and then he, Lauren and Emma head for the
hospital to join Dana. En route Lauren receives a phone call from a confused Lorne, wondering why there is police
tape across the door of the Oracle's apartment. Lauren breaks the news to him that the Oracle is dead and that
Wolfram & Hart seem to be targeting the group's friends and allies. Lorne says he will see about setting
up a mystic safehouse for himself and the others.
At the hospital Dana has been taken down to the morgue to positively ID Ethan's body. She verifies
that the body on the slab is Ethan and when the morgue asks about next of kin Dana says she's the closest thing,
saying she was Ethan's girlfriend. The morgue attendant leaves her alone with the body for a few minutes, time Dana
uses to examine the extent of Ethan's injuries. When she is finished she rejoins the attendant to sign some papers
related to Ethan's body. When Patrick, Lauren and Emma arrive at the hospital, the ER doctor is breaks the news of
Ethan's death to them and tells them that Dana is down in the morgue identifying the body. Several of the teens
from the shelter were also brought to the hospital and the police are interviewing them and the doctor says the
police will probably also want to ask the three of them about Ethan. The doctor also notices Patrick's injuries,
but Patrick refuses any treatment, saying he'll be fine.
Down in the morgue Dana and the attendant here a noise and are shocked to see that Ethan is somehow
alive again. The attendant faints and Dana rushes over and kisses Ethan, who is still gravely injured. She helps Ethan
up from the floor where he'd fallen while trying to get off the slab and the two manage to find his clothes and
personal effects. Knowing they can't go out the front door, Dana grabs a wheelchair and takes Ethan out through one
of the exits from the morgue area. Seeing the SUV in the parking lot, she puts Ethan in the back seat and goes into
the ER to get the others. Ethan plays dead in the back and the others are horrified when it looks like Dana has
stolen Ethan's body, until Ethan finally speaks and scares the Hell out of Patrick, Lauren and Emma. The group
then head back to the house to get Ethan into their own little hospital in the basement so he can rest. Once Ethan
is resting Patrick and Lauren and Emma go and get Anne, then drop her and Emma off at the safehouse Lorne has
set up.
The next day the group makes plans to rescue Jennifer from New Hope. Using the wheelchair they took
from the hospital, Patrick and Lauren will sneak into the facility as an orderly and a patient. Meanwhile Ethan and
Dana will wait in the SUV, with Ethan ready to start the car for a quick getaway and Dana prepared to shift to her
werewolf form to provide a distraction or cover if needed, a shocking change from her usual reluctance to even
acknowledge her lycanthropy. Spotting some employees going in a side door, Lauren uses her telekinesis to keep the
door from closing and she and Patrick are able to get in. A few minutes later, though, Ethan spots Dr. Abrams
arriving. Despite his injuries, Ethan decides to go after Abrams and arms himself with a needle filled with a
tranquilizer.
According to Lauren's earlier vision, Jennifer is being kept in a padded room in the secure area
of the hospital. Having timed their arrival to coincide with a shift change, Patrick is able to bluff his way
past the security desk and he and Lauren make their way to Jennifer's room. Meanwhile, Ethan has come up behind
Abrams and, threatening the doctor with the needle (claiming it contains a nerve poison), is able to get past
reception and accompany Abrams to the doctor's office. At Jennifer's room, Patrick is unable to get the door
open so Lauren uses her telekinesis to break the lock, which sets of an alarm. The two grab the sedated Jennifer
and put her in the wheelchair, then Lauren text-messages Dana to let her know to start the distraction.
In Abrams' office, the doctor tries to use the alarm as a distraction to take down Ethan but
Ethan is quicker and knocks Abrams out with the needle. Knowing he has a few minutes, Ethan grabs the
doctor's briefcase (and wallet and keys) and rifles through his file cabinet. In the cabinet Ethan spots a rather
thick file with Dana's name on it, which he grabs before calmly exiting the building. Outside, Dana has switched
to her werewolf form and promptly rips open the locked fire door to the secure wing, giving Patrick, Lauren and
the unconscious Jennifer a quick exit. The group piles into the SUV and makes their escape before hospital
security can react.
After dropping Jennifer off at the safehouse the group returns home and begins going through
the files Ethan stole from Dr. Abrams. Ethan does not mention Dana's file, though, and after stating he is
going to rest he heads down to the infirmary and begins reading through the file. Upstairs, the group have
discovered that Abrams had several files from Wolfram & Hart with him. Among those files were some on
Lauren, her sister Emma, Jennifer, and several other girls; and all the files are grouped together under
something called the Cassandra Project. Reading some of the files, the group surmises that W & H
have been tracking young girls that exhibit psychic or potential psychic abilities.
Downstairs, Ethan has finished flipping through Dana's file and calls her down, using a text
message so as not to alert the others. When Dana comes down Ethan shows her the file. Dana is horrified when
she sees that the file contains reports on her dating back to her childhood, starting just after the death
of her parents. Along with the regular psychiatric reports dealing with young Dana's trauma there are
notes to contact Wolfram & Hart should she display any unusual abilities or if any strange occurrences
are noticed around her. Later reports note attempts by Wolfram & Hart to get operatives close to
Dana, but her increasingly withdrawn nature kept any of them from forming a bond with the young girl.
Some reports even indicate that once Dana began studying the supernatural W & H considered
recruiting her, but considered it difficult because of the inability for anyone to get close enough to
her for her to trust. According to the files there was another reason to avoid recruiting Dana, though,
that being the risk that she would learn the truth about how her parents died.
