Dana finds herself running through the woods, chasing after some kind of white light.
Just as she catches up with it she suddenly awakens, sitting up in her bed drenched with sweat and her
heart racing. Dana gets up to get a drink of water and notices a four-leaf clover resting on top of the
file on her from Wolfram & Hart. On edge, she carefully looks around her apartment and suddenly
realizes that all the locks on her front door are open. The fear rising in her becomes terror when
Dana is assailed by a noxious smell, a smell that takes her right back to her childhood and the night
her parents were killed. Dana's occult obsession allows her to fight off the fear for the moment and
she follows the smell to her closet. She slowly opens the closet, revealing nothing, but then a
sudden chill rises up her spine and Dana slowly turns around to see a huge hulking figure slowly,
impossibly, emerging from underneath her bed. No longer able to fight off the fear, Dana flees her
apartment, running full tilt down the stairwell, knowing that the creature is right behind her. Dana
emerges into the parking lot only to find the monster has gotten there ahead of her somehow. Stumbling backwards
Dana falls, but just as the creature is about to attack Jalen suddenly appears from nowhere and
slashes it with his sword before collapsing. Dana quickly overcomes her fear, and her shock at
Jalen's appearance, and grabs her fallen friend. With the creature momentarily distracted she is
able to get herself and Jalen onto Jalen's motorcycle and race away.
Patrick awakens, having heard noises, and goes downstairs to investigate. There he
finds a terrified Dana and barely conscious Jalen. Dana is only able to mutter a few things about
monsters and Jalen is little help. The weakened ninja can only ask how long he has been missing.
The activity awakens Lauren and Ethan. Dana is still too scared to say much, and Jalen only knows
that he was lost in the Shadow dimension until he saw something else there and followed it to the
borders of the dimension, where he could see back out into the real world. He saw Dana being attacked
and was able to break out and help. With neither of the two able to provide any more detail, Patrick
decides to stand guard outside just in case.
Come morning Jalen is a little more rested and Dana is calmer, though she is
terrified at the thought of going back to her apartment. Patrick, Ethan and Lauren decide to head
there instead, to investigate and to pick up some things for Dana wear. At the apartment, Lauren
picks out some clothes for Dana while Patrick and Ethan look around. There is no sign of the creature
and while Patrick continues to look around Ethan is able to grab the Wolfram & Hart file (which
only he and Dana know about) and the ancient Book of Zar-n'Atoth, not something that should be left
lying around. Back at the house Jalen is still resting. Dana, though, hears what she thinks is
thunder despite the sky being clear (though smoggy). She also thinks she hears the sound of a hunting
horn being blown and for a moment the smog clouds seem to take an odd shape she can't quite make out.
At this point Dana notices a strange man leaning against a tree in the woods at the back of the house.
The man jovially waves to Dana and turns and heads into the woods. Dana goes out after the young man and
follows him.
When Patrick, Ethan and Lauren get back to the house there is no sign of Dana and
Jalen only remembers her leaving out the back door a while earlier. A search of the back yard shows
nothing, and attempts to call her cell phone just get a message saying the customer is out of the coverage
area. Lauren figures that Dana, being the loner she is, just wants some time by herself because
of the previous night's events. Dana, meanwhile, has been following the stranger deeper into the woods. He
somehow manages to be constantly just at the edge of her line of sight and Dana figures he probably isn't
human. Finally she emerges into a sunlit clearing and realizes she's walked far enough to have long ago
left the grounds of the estate but never hit the perimeter fence so the stranger must have led her into
another dimension or something. Dana looks around the clearing but can't see the stranger, until a
voice behind her announces his sudden appearance. Knowing she's dealing with some kind of magical creature
Dana tries to find out his name, but the stranger won't give it and simply tells Dana to call him
"Whatever you like", so she settles on the name Wyl (W.Y.L).
Dana wants to know what is happening and what Wyl knows about the creature that attacked
her the night before so Wyl reveals several truths about her and her family. He tells Dana that the
creature that attacked her would best be described as an Ogre, and that it was sent by the Unseelie
Court (evil faeries) to kill her and finish the job started over twenty years earlier. When Dana asks
why it took so long for them to come after her, Wyl reveals that Dana's mother was a witch and
("not to go all Harry Potter on you, but...", he says) as her last act she cast a powerful
protection spell on Dana. That spell kept the Unseelie Court and their agents from doing anything to
harm her, until recently when the spell's effects began to wear off. Dana's next question is why they
want to kill her and her family in the first place. Wyl answers that Dana is a descendant of Celtic
warrior chieftains, a line originating with the Irish folk-hero Cuchulainn. The ancient hero was also
known as the Hound of Ulster and Wyl points out that he was a werewolf. He asks Dana if she
ever wondered how she was able to turn into a werewolf without ever having been bitten by one. He
tells her she isn't cursed with lycanthropy, her ability is actually her birthright and only emerged
recently because her mother's spell was wearing off.
When Dana asks why this is all happening now, Wyl reveals the final piece of information.
He tells of an ancient prophecy that says the Horned God, the lead Huntsman of the Wild Hunt, would
finally catch his prey when his hound rejoined the hunt. Dana has heard of the legend of the Wild Hunt,
and that its appearance usually heralds a great war or other catastrophe. The hound of the prophecy is
supposed to be a descendant of Cuchulainn, and Dana may be the one the Wild Huntsman is waiting for.
Asking how she'll know, Wyl tells Dana that she just will. When the time is right she will find the
White Hart and the Wild Huntsman will appear to take his prey. With that Wyl tells Dana its time to go.
She asks how she can get back, and Wyl tells her she should be able to find her own way. Just before he
vanishes he gives her a hint, pointing in the direction she should start in. Dana heads back into the
woods, trying to remember the path she took in, but eventually realizes that isn't what Wyl was talking
about. It proves difficult, but Dana is eventually able to forgo reason and let her instincts guide her.
She continues walking, with the twists and turns blurring together until she stumbles out of the woods
and into the back yard of the house.
Night has fallen and Dana has been gone for almost twelve hours when she finally comes in.
Patrick and Lauren greet her with choruses of "where have you been, young lady?" and "we've
been so worried", before getting more serious and asking her what happened. The group sits down and
Dana summarizes much, though not all, of what Wyl told her. The main focus is on the Huntsman's prey,
the White Hart, and the group believes this may be the Hart of the Wolf, the Ram, and the Hart, the
Senior Partners of Wolfram & Hart. If there is a prophecy leading to the end of one of the Senior
Partners, the group is all for it. When Dana is finished, Ethan outlines her choices, ending with the
option to run and hide. He emphasizes his point by opening the front door for her, only to see five
huge shambling creatures, more ogres, approaching the house.
Patrick is the first out the door, sword drawn, with Jalen right behind. Dana grabs an
axe to join in while Lauren begins telekinetically hurling objects, starting with a fireplace poker,
at the creatures. Ethan, meanwhile, rushes downstairs to the basement lab to whip up something to help.
The fight is not going the groups' way so to even the odds a little Dana drops the axe and shifts
into her werewolf form. This takes the ogres by surprise and the heroes finally get an edge, helped
further when Ethan enters the fray with a vial of home-made napalm. Patrick and Jalen take a few nasty hits
but in the end the ogres are defeated, their bodies dissolving into an icky green goo on the front lawn.
