While on patrol Patrick encounters a demon attacking women in an LA neighborhood.
He tries to chase it but loses the creature as it jumps away, clearing several buildings in one
leap, but not before leaving Patrick with its name, "Jack".
From a half-remembered childhood story the group comes up with the name of a
creature called Spring-Heeled Jack. Dana's research turns up a creature of that name that
tormented women in London in the Nineteenth Century. Attacks were also reported in other areas of
the British Isles over the years, and even a few in America in the early Twentieth Century. Patrick
and Jalen go out on patrol, using Lauren and Dana to try and lure Jack, but have no luck.
At the offices of Wolfram & Hart, Travis McCauley is briefing the Count on
Jack's recent activity. The Count seems to indicate he know more about the attacks than he lets
on.
Having had no luck locating Jack by patrolling random neighborhoods, the group
spreads out their search. Ethan checks with some of his street contacts and learns that someone
of Jack's description has been seen by the prostitutes along the Sunset Strip.
Further down the strip, Jack is stalking some women when a limousine pulls up.
A voice inside calls to Jack, who enters the limo. Inside, Jack finds himself face to face with
the Count, whom he seems to know from his time in London. The Count tells Jack to leave LA, but
the demon tells him that neither he nor his new "friends" can stop him. Jack then leaps
out of the limo's sunroof and takes off down the street. The Count places a call to the W & H
offices.
Dana is researching Jack in the UCLA library when she is approached by a man in a
suit. The man is Travis McCauley and he gives her a detailed file on Jack before leaving.
Armed with the information the group is able to guess where Jack's next move will
be. They are able to stop Jack's next attack, but the demon escapes, trashing Patrick's car in the
process. Luckily, Lauren receives a vision of Jack's next attack and Patrick and Jalen are able to
intercept the demon. In the fight the two are able to ground the leaping fiend and Patrick slashes
Jack's throat just as the demon is trying to breathe flames on his attackers. As a result of the
injury, however, the demon only succeeds in igniting himself. As the flames cover Jack he is
quickly consumed and finally explodes, ending his threat forever.
At the Blue Plate Diner, where the group are celebrating their victory with the
traditional slice of pie, Dana describes the man who gave her the file on Jack and the rest of the
group realize they have all encountered the same man before, and Patrick tells them he is a lawyer
working for a firm called Wolfram & Hart.
