Episode Synopsis

The team meets at the hospital where Jalen and Ethan are both recovering. They review what they have learned about Andrew Cross, which leads to questions about what has happened to Lauren's visions. It becomes clear that none of them know any details about the visions and how they work, so figuring out how they were diverted is difficult at best. Dana decides to talk to Lorne, as he seems to know a lot about the nature of the visions. During the discussions Ethan makes a comment about Lauren having a sister, which leads Lauren to try and get in touch with Emma, just to be sure.

Dana, accompanied by Patrick, meets with Lorne. He tells them that the visions are a direct feed from the Powers That Be and and very powerful magic. Apparently normal humans generally can handle being the host for the visions; they eventually cause irreperable brain damage. As near as Lorne can guess, maybe since Lauren is a telekinetic she could handle them better than a regular person. As for diverting the visions, the only ways Lorne is aware of passing the visions on is through some form of intimate contact. Even then, its usually a voluntary process and typically happens just before the host is going to die. He does know of some cases where they visions have been tampered with, twice they had been amplified to effectively disable the host. In each case the culprit responsible for the tampering was working for Wolfram & Hart.

Meanwhile, Ethan has checked himself out of the hospital and decides to check out the Wolfram & Hart angle personally. He heads to Wolfram & Hart's offices and manages to get a meeting with Alexandra Morelli. Though most of the meeting Ethan simply flirts with Alexandra, and at the same time implies he's looking for work in case the law firm needs someone with his "talents". At the end of the meeting Ethan voices the group's suspisions about Wolfram & Hart's connection to the missing visions and with Andrew Cross. Alexandra masks her reaction well, but Ethan notices just enough to confirm the suspicions. As he leaves the offices he bumps into Travis McCauley, who still harbors a grudge against Ethan for shooting him in the arm with a crossbow a few months earlier.

With Jalen still recuperating from the injuries he suffered during the fight with Cross the remaining four meet up at the house. Lauren tells the others that it took some doing but she finally tracked down her sister Emma. It turns out that Lauren's parents had Emma committed to the New Hope Psychiatric Hospital, the same hospital where Lauren had been sent when she first started receiving the visions. Not only is Emma in the same hospital, but the timing of her commitment coincides with when Lauren stopped receiving the visions. It looks like Ethan's hunch was right, Wolfram & Hart have somehow diverted the visions from Lauren to her sister.

Lauren, with Dana, go to see Emma at New Hope while Patrick and Ethan wait for them in the car in case something goes wrong. After some persuasion, Lauren and Dana are allowed to see Emma, who is kept under mild sedation in a padded room. Though sedated, Emma is coherent enough to recognize her sister, and to answer questions. It soon becomes clear that Emma really is receiving the visions now; and Lauren and Dana also learn that Dr. Abrams, the psychiatrist treating Emma and who also treated Lauren, has been taking detailed records of Emma's visions (which he refers to as "hallucinations"). It is likely that Abrams is either providing the details of the visions to Wolfram & Hart and to Cross, or they are obtaining them by some other means.

Outside the hospital Ethan spots Dr. Abrams arriving. While Patrick text messages a warning to Dana, Ethan intercepts the psychiatrist. Dr. Abrams recognizes Ethan from an earlier visit to the hospital (where Ethan was posing as an intern), but Ethan deflects the doctor's questions by bringing up Lauren. Ethan tells Dr. Abrams that his friend Lauren has started suffering from hallucinations again after a few weeks where they had seeming stopped, which of course implies to the doctor that Lauren has started to receive visions again. This is enough to get the doctor's full attention and he tries to convince Ethan to bring Lauren to the facility. Ethan doesn't think this is possible and instead the doctor suggests bringing her to his personal office downtown. Ethan, noticing that Lauren and Dana have exited the building and rejoined Patrick at the car, takes Abrams' card with his office address and thanks the doctor. As Ethan heads back to the car, Dr. Abrams goes to his office in the hospital and immediately contacts Wolfram & Hart.

Knowing that Dr. Abrams will be at New Hope for a while, the group decides to break into his personal office. They pick up Jalen at the hospital and head downtown. The ninja is easily able to bypass the security and locks at the office and the group starts searching for any information on Lauren or Emma. While there are no recent transcripts of Emma's visions, copies of some earlier ones are, including two that link to murders that Cross had committed while impersonating Patrick. The group also learns that Worlfram & Hart were the ones who convinced Lauren's parents to send her to Dr. Abrams when her telekinesis first manifested publicly in high school. This means that Wolfram & Hart had been keep track of Lauren long before she started receiving the visions, something that disturbs Lauren greatly. Once they have finished the group leaves the office, careful to return averything to the state where they found it. With all the group has learned, Lauren says that they have to get Emma out of New Hope.

The next night, Patrick and Jalen break into the New Hope facility, with a little help from some magic worked up by Dana to counter any mystic security W & H may have in place to monitor Lauren's sister. Luckily, Emma recognized Jalen as a friend of Lauren's and doesn't resist he and Patrick when they get to her room. She goes along with them quietly and all three are long gone before the hospital security realizes Emma is missing. They take Emma back to the house where she is reunited with Lauren and the group starts to fill her in on what is really happening to her.

Meanwhile, at Worlfram & Hart, Travis McCauley is very annoyed. He has from Dr. Abrams that Lauren apparently is having the visions again so he heads straight for the Special Projects area of the W & H offices. There Travis confronts the mystic responsible for casting the spell that diverted the visions to Emma. He tells the mystic that the spell has failed and he needs it recast, the Champion's link to the Powers must be severed. The mystic finds it hard to believe that the spell has failed, but at Travis' insistence he agrees to cast it again. The complex ritual takes some time, but the mystic does manage to recast the spell. And at the moment the spell is complete across town in the group's house Lauren collapses.
