Inside the warehouse, Dana follows Ethan through the rave crowd,
spotting several occult symbols on the walls and floors. Backstage they find a
trapdoor leading to the sewers beneath the warehouse and head down. Meanwhile,
Lauren has managed to convey enough details of her vision for Patrick to guess the
location. He, Lauren, and Jalen arrive at the warehouse and head in.
Down in the tunnel, Ethan can hear cries of anguish. He and Dana
find a hole in the tunnel wall leading to a large cavern. Inside Ethan's second
sight shows him the souls of the dead teenagers mystically bound to several
large pillars. Just then the two are attacked by a large troll-like demon, the
creature that Lauren had seen in her vision.
Patrick and Jalen arrive with Lauren in tow and attack the demon.
In the cavern several vampires are guarding human cultists performing a ritual over
a large pit. Dana deciphers some of the symbols and realizes the cultists are trying
to raise the ancient demon-god Azethoth. Patrick and Jalen kill the troll-demon and
then take on the vampires while the others disrupt the ritual. Dana realizes that
the trapped souls are the key and Patrick begins destroying the pillars. This frees
the trapped souls, disrupting the ritual. As the cavern begins to collapse the
cultists flee.
Outside amongst the youths fleeing the rave the group; Patrick,
Jalen, Lauren, Ethan, and Dana introduce each other as the warehouse collapses into
itself. As the questions pile up, the group needs answers. Dana suggests they consult
an Oracle.
In a low-rent building, the group are escorted by a black youth into
a darkened apartment. A robed, hooded figure, The Oracle, enters and tells them that
it is no coincidence they are together. He explains that the Powers That Be are
responsible for giving Patrick his powers and for giving Lauren the visions. The
Oracle explains that Los Angeles is the center of a struggle between the forces of
good and evil, and that a great battle was fought recently in which both sides
suffered great losses. He goes on to say that each member of the group has a destiny
and that it is up to them to fulfill it.
After the group has left to ponder what they have learned, the Oracle
takes off his hood and goes into a back room. Inside the gaudily decorated room a
green hand picks up a glass and a shadowed figured takes a drink, commenting that the recent visitors
have an interesting time ahead of them, and that he thinks they are up to the task.
Back at the offices of Wolfram & Hart, Mr. Simmons is chastising
the representatives of the Shadow Clan on the failure of their assassins. The Clan
says they will deal with the traitor in their own way, then leave. In the lobby, a
distinguished man in Victorian-style dress walks in. He goes past the receptionist
directly into Simons' office. Inside, the man introduces himself as The Count, which
clearly frightens Mr. Simmons. The Count berates Simmons for sending the assassins
after Lauren, saying the firm had the situation under control. Now the Powers That
Be have a link to their new champion and it is Simmons' fault. The Count then closes
the office doors. When he opens them a short while later he tells the receptionist
to send in someone to clean up the mess.
