With Lauren and Jalen effectively out of commission it is up to Ethan to deal with the transformed Dana. Having
collected some silver dust from the UCLA geology department, Ethan blows it into Dana's eyes, temporarily blinding her and
enraging her at the same time. Ethan uses the momentary distraction to make a run for the nearby campus medical building as
werewolf Dana begins her pursuit using her sense of smell. Inside the building Ethan breaks into the drug closet and prepares
for Dana's arrival. When the werewolf enters the room Ethan again distracts her, this time with a mixture of foul smelling
chemicals. The odor momentarily stuns Dana, giving Ethan time to pump her full of sedatives. With Dana knocked out but still a
werewolf, Ethan, Jalen, and Lauren steal an SUV and drive back to the house. Once there they chain Dana up in the basement and
ponder what they will do with her.
At the Wolfram & Hart building, Patrick and Cross have managed to subdue most of the major creatures that
threatened to escape. On behalf of the firm, lawyer Alexandra Morelli thanks Patrick and tells him that in return for his help
Wolfram & Hart will dig up some of the vital information the group has been looking for. With that done a company helicopter gives
Patrick a lift back to the house where he learns what has happened to the others in the meantime, including why there is a
werewolf chained up in the basement and what happened to his car.
As the group tries to figure out what to do about Dana, and the coming end of the world, Lauren receives a vision.
The vision shows the city of LA engulfed in flames, with Locke (aka Loki) ruling over it on a throne of bones. As she watches Locke
in the vision Lauren realizes there is someone else watching him as well. She turns to see a white-haired, bearded man who then
turns to face her. The man, Alfred Woodman (aka Woden/Odin), tells how he had to give up an eye to gain the his knowledge, and
he wonders aloud what price Lauren may have to pay for hers. At this point the vision ends, leaving Lauren puzzled both at Odin's
comments and the fact that this vision wasn't anywhere near as painful as they usually are. As she tells the group about the vision
both Ethan and Patrick receive calls on their cell phones.
Ethan's call is from Alexandra. Wolfram & Hart have uncovered some of the information he had been looking for.
Ethan isn't sure exactly what she is talking about, but she gives him an address located in Beverly Hills. Patrick's call turns out
to be from his former teammate Keri Prescott. Keri tells Patrick she knows why the sun is missing and gives him a lead in Malibu.
He asks how she knows this and Keri admits to having something to do with the sun's disappearance, but also tells Patrick that she now
realizes she was being used by someone else to accomplish that goal, and she is particularly happy at having been used as a pawn in someone else's game. Keri figures
that telling Patrick what she knows is the best way to strike back at whoever was manipulating her.
With two separate leads the group decides to follow Ethan's first as Beverly Hills is closer. The address given by
Alexandra turns out to be a private community called Rainbow Estates. Wondering if this is where the Norse gods are in
Los Angeles the group tells the gate guard they are looking for Donner (the only name they know of). The guard is initially
skeptical but he lets them in and tells them to check out the Veteran's Association Hall. When the group enters the building
they are shocked to see that Ethan has disappeared. The receptionist is not able to help them and after several dead end efforts
to figure out what happened the group reluctantly leaves.
After walking into the Veteran's Association Hall, Ethan suddenly found himself in a huge medieval building filled
with Vikings, several of whom welcome him and offer him drinks and food. Eventually Ethan locates Donner in the building, which he
realizes must be Valhalla. Donner wonders how Ethan got there, as only gods and the dead can enter Valhalla, and he does not think
Ethan is a god. Donner takes Ethan to a tower in the building, at the top of which is a throne looking out over all of Los Angeles.
There he presents Ethan to the All-Father, Odin. Ethan tries to persuade Odin to do something to stop Ragnarok from happening
but Odin refuses, saying he and the other gods are tied to their destinies. Ethan continues to protest, insulting both Odin
and Donner, and finally asks to be shown the way back to LA. It is as Ethan is leaving that Odin finally gets through to him that while the
gods can do nothing to stop the coming battle, Ethan and his friends can still do something. Realizing that Odin is prepared to
help where he can, Ethan thinks to ask him how he and his friends can stop it. When Odin tells him to bring back the light Ethan
at first assumes he means restore the sun, but Odin repeats himself and Ethan realizes he means the Light, the god of light
Balder. Ethan then realizes this means he must go into the Norse land of the dead and bring back Balder. Odin tells Ethan how to
travel there, and that only he and Jalen will be able to make the journey. Odin then instructs Donner to take Ethan out of
Valhalla, and gives Ethan a final piece of information - that Lauren is the key to helping Dana.
Meanwhile the rest of the group (Patrick, Jalen, Lauren, and Emma) have gone to Malibu to follow up the clue that
Keri gave Patrick. Their efforts lead them to a club called the Golden Ring where, in a back office guarded by trolls, they
find Adam (the wolf-demon that consumed the sun) and Locke. Faced with the trolls, the demon, and a Norse god the group realizes
that starting a fight would be a bad idea. Instead they let Locke speak, hoping that he'll tell them exactly what he's up to. The
plan works and the arrogant god is more than happy to regale the group with how he manipulated them into helping him. According to
Norse myth, Ragnarok will end with all the gods being killed in battle and the fire giant Surt burning the world clean. Locke
reveals to the group that he has managed to change his fate by stealing the destiny that Patrick's evil twin had created using
powerful magic. He emphasizes his role by changing shape into that of the Native shaman who removed the evil twin's essence from
within Patrick, adding that the essence contained the twin's destiny and that he took it into himself. Locke also thanks Jalen,
confirming that he was the priest of Brahma who sent the group after Bryan Alder and gave them the mistletoe arrows Jalen used
to kill the god of Light. Locke offers the group the chance to surrender and join him, serving him once he takes over the burning
Earth. They refuse, but the quartet still aren't sure how they can escape the lion's den.
Once Donner has escorted him back to "normal" Los Angeles, Ethan immediately calls the others. Answering
the call actually gives Patrick and the others the opening they need as it distracts Locke. Ethan tells them that he needs Jalen to
meet him in Griffith Park so the group actually tells Locke they have to leave. Confident that they can do nothing to stop his
scheme, Locke lets them leave, though Jalen makes a last minute attack against the wolf-demon Adam. Striking quickly, Jalen drives
his sword straight into Adam's heart, but the attack proves ineffective as the captured sun energies actually melt the blade as it
penetrates Adam's chest. Jalen maintains his composure and nonchalantly follows his friends out of the club. Once outside the group
speeds away before Locke can change his mind and order a pursuit. Luckily for them Locke has an army to gather for his attack against the
rest of the Norse gods and can spare no time to deal with irrelevant mortals.
At Griffith Park, Ethan tells the others what he has learned. In the park is an extension of the mystical
World Tree that will allow he and Jalen to travel to Niffleheim, the Norse underworld. While Ethan and Jalen try to bring back
Bryan Alder the others will have to help Dana, and then they'll have to find a way to delay Locke's final strike against
the gods until the two return from the land of the dead. Meanwhile, back at the house, werewolf Dana has broken loose from her
chains and gone out into the darkened city.
